  • Drag and Drop UX

A workshop builder for facilitators: assemble a session from blocks you have run before, then run it from a live sheet.

Challenge

A facilitator plans the same session shapes over and over, and the useful part is never the agenda document. It is the twenty minutes of Appreciative Inquiry Pairs that worked last time, the retrospective that did not drag. That knowledge lives in old slide decks and memory, so every new workshop starts from a blank page instead of from what already worked.

Action

I built the library first and the workshop second. Every activity is a block with a category, a duration and a short description of what it is for, colour coded so a session reads as a shape before you read a word of it. Favourites mark the ones you reach for. A workshop is assembled by dragging blocks into an order, and the durations add up as you go, so an over-packed session is visible while you are planning rather than at minute fifty. Then there is a run mode, because the thing a facilitator needs standing in the room is not the plan, it is the next block and how long is left.

Result

The blocks outlive the workshop they were written for, which is the whole point: the library gets better every time a session is run, where an agenda document is dead the moment the workshop ends.
