Store it, Find it

A home organisation app for creatives

  • Home organisation
  • Photo-first
  • Spaces and categories to help you find your stuff

Skills

  • Photo capture

Photograph where a thing actually lives, label the spot, and find it again without turning the house over.

Challenge

Creative supplies do not live in tidy categories, they live in places: under the yellow chair, behind the couch, in the box of cords by the desk. Conventional organisers ask you to name the thing and say where it goes. That is the wrong way round, because the question you have months later is not “where should the dye be”, it is “where did I put it”.

Action

The unit is the place, not the object. You photograph the spot as it really looks, name it the way you would say it out loud, and note what is in it. Categories sit across the top for the kind of thing you are hunting, spaces group the places by room, and a flag marks the spots that have drifted and want a tidy, with the date they were last dealt with, so “organise it” is a short list rather than a whole weekend.

Result

The photographs are what make it work. A written label describes a place you have to picture; a photograph is the place, and you recognise it before you have finished reading the name.
