1,448 posts, archived and kept readable

The archive's home page
Fourteen years of a writer's blog, lifted off WordPress and rebuilt as something that will still be readable in another fourteen.
An archive is not a backup. A WordPress export preserves the rows but not the reading: links rot, the hosting bill keeps arriving, and a plugin update can take the whole thing down. The work was to get 1,448 posts out of a platform that had become a liability, without losing the thing that made them worth keeping.
I migrated the full archive and rebuilt it as a static site on Vercel, so the reading experience survives independently of any running database, plugin or renewal. The brief was explicitly to archive rather than to redesign, so the work was judged on fidelity and on what it costs to keep alive, not on how different it looks.
1,448 posts readable at a fixed, near-zero running cost, with nothing left that can break on its own: no database to keep up, no plugins to update, no renewal that quietly takes the archive down. Judged against the brief, which was to archive rather than redesign, the measure is that the writing reads as it did and will keep doing so without anyone tending it.
